MIDO trade show in Milan March 4-6th 2010
We have visited the MIDO trade show in Milan which celebrating its 40th yearly event. This is one of the most largets and most important events in the optical business. Here could you find the most design focused companies, the most trendy fashion brands, manufacturers of optival machinery, lenses, frames, sport- and reading glasses of all kind.
Some important trends:
* Reading glasses/optical frames
A lot of metal frames and metal patterns together with "wire/net-metal designs". Some new innovative solutions on springs and connections between frame and the temples. New variations on "light-weight" frames especially made out of titanium.
* Sun glasses
Many transparent frames in different plastic materials. More and more different product variations in "Pilote models". Everything is right and you can find products and designs for all needs and tastes except brands! Strass rine stones which passes the frame partly covering one of the lenses is very much in fashion.
* Sport glasses/Goggles
Many new different products with coloured lenses, Revo lenses, mirror lenses and much more focus on polarized lenses. Sport glasses are much more in focus again! Large marketing and branding focus from the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. More solutions on pattern neck straps and expecially on Goggles. Exchangeable lenses for sport glasses in which you can change the lenses more easily and faster. Adjustable temples in length and height.
